As a community club we stive to support our members and their families in fundraising, events, and anything else they may be pursuing. This year, Laura (Chair Tom’s wife)is doing a 2 mile sponsored swim to support a trip volunteer in the refugee camp community on Lesvos, Greece. Many women and children are fleeing war and poverty in countries like Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, they arrive on Lesvos by boat seeking refuge in Europe searching for safety, dignity and a future. to volunteer at a women’s aid refugee centre. The All4Women Centre relies on volunteers to help their work and focuses on serving women and girls by offering:
– 8 safe warm showers;
– A laundry facility with 10 commercial washing machines;
– A shop (distribution area) providing clothing and personal hygiene items (diapers, wipes, feminine pads, bras, etc.);
– A hospitality area where our female guests are served tea, take part in activities and workshops, as well as receive manicures, pedicures, hairstyling, etc.;
– A baby bath area where mothers can bathe their infants in a warm, safe environment;
– A sewing workshop with 10 robust and portable mechanical sewing machines.
